Education for Sustainable Development, is recognized as a key element and a crucial enabler for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Global Action Programme targets. knowledge sharing and a social platform are key for promoting awareness on global sustainability and creating a community of citizens committed to making lasting change through peer learning and the sharing of best practices, customized resource development, and opportunities for thought leadership.
The Green Champion School Alliance, is a network of Schools, in India that that supports global sustainability programs and is designed to enable schools to create a quantifiable platform to influence our society in the areas of, climate and sustainability, health and wellness, equity and inclusion, and economic efficiency.

Sustainable schools create an environment where teachers and other faculty can cultivate a positive attitude and give students the physical place, and organizational culture to encourage the development of environmentally conscious global citizens.

As we look toward fulfilling the ambitious UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, the plan of action for people, planet, and prosperity cannot be met without acknowledging the important connection between transfer of knowledge and creation of opportunities through communities.
As hubs of large communities, schools and their teaching tools can bring together, environmental education and large-scale community engagement. Students, teachers, and parents can access a platform to become catalysts to impact citizens through behaviour, and by influencing decision making with stakeholders from the private sector, academia, civil society and public institutions to jointly engage for knowledge, inspiration and action.
Schools in India have an average of 900 to 1300 Students per school and these students and related stakeholders in the eco system can be influential ambassadors of sustainability.
